The tooth in question is the last tooth on the upper left side at the back. All my wisdom tooth have been extracted. The only problem I can see is that my lower back tooth won't have a chomping partner. The dentist said I shouldn't have any problem with teeth movement since I've had orthodontics as a child. Financially, I don't know if I want to spend $500 on a tooth that's the last in line and is all the way in the back so when I smile it won't be that obvious. Painwise/Recovery wise, which is faster to recover? I dont want to take too many days off from work. I'm 28 years old by the way.
Should I extract or place a crown for last tooth in upper left corner? $0 vs. $500?
I use all my molars to chew so I would keep the tooth and settle for the crown. But I suppose it depends on your eating style.
Reply:I would do the crown. I still feel uncomfortable where my wisdom teeth were removed and I cant imagine having a normal tooth missing in my mouth. My tougue will forever go into the "hole" and food too. I would pay the 500 bucks.
Reply:PULLING IT ISN'T ANY MORE PAINFUL THAN A BAD HEADACHE I WOULD HAVE IT PULLED........
Reply:I actually had the same problem and went with the removal. I was back at work the next day. It took a few days to heal so I used the other side to chew, now I can't even tell it's gone.
They do say if you can save a tooth save it. GL in your decision.
Reply:I have had mine pulled and have no problems. After a few months you don't even have a whole there. I never notice mine being gone. As for having it pulled I never even took the pain meds they gave me when I had it done. It really didn't bother me I was back at work the next day. The thing that bothers me is having to keep your mouth packed all day after having it done.
Reply:Its better to have the tooth fixed. Many dentists have office hours on evenings and weekends nowadays, so you won't miss work. Check with 1-800-Dentist to find a dentist close to you that has the hours you like with one phone call.

How much do you think this position will paY?
it's White orthodontics, private practice, state of the art equipment, only doctor in Virginia who does what he does.. only 8 doc's in the whole Unites States..
So i went to his job fair last night, and got a call back this morning for 2nd interview. I can't help but wonder how much they would pay. It's an entry level position. Mostly front desk, but some in the lab, with on the job training offered.
Out of 15 people they are looking for only 1 person.
And most people have been there 6, 7, 10 years...
I didn't want to ask how much he'd offer, but how much do YOU think? an hour..
* his main experience needed was customer serive and i have 4 yrs of experience in that field.
How much do you think this position will paY?
My guess, for the right person at least $50K. This position has great influence on the success of the office because the Customers contact you first. I think a "professionally minded" person would be well worth the money. Don't sell your Customer Service skills short. Start the negotation high, you can always come down.
Reply:oohh thats tough, it really depends on what the going rate in your area is.

I dont know how to deal with these girls in my class....?
ok well there are these two girls in my 9th period class, that are SO unbelievably FREAKING annoying. Seriosuly i have never been around girls that have anooyed me quite as much as them. They both are pretty, they like to write on stickys and put them on my back, writing stuff like, meanie, azshole, and drawing d1cks and then posting them on my back. They call themsevles "spontaneous" but really they just are annoying, once of them laughs at everything, and the other named kelly, OMFG she is so freaking UGLY, i mean she is like this short, which both of them are, girl who has a big behind, and huge breasts, but she has this face which is so nasty. and she has these teeth, which are like these:

which I SWEAR TO you are like those but not as crowded, lol. She thinks she is funny. She keeps hitting me with HARD covered books, and when im laying my head on the table she keeps lifting the table up and ..
I dont know how to deal with these girls in my class....?
OKay I will probably get thumbs down but whatever. If I was you I would have been hit them. I don't care what anyone says. You don't touch me and get away with it. You have to have self respect. I understand you dont want to get in trouble and whatnot, but big deal. You will get in trouble once in your life. I think that next time they do it, you should warn them. Be like, "Just leave me alone. I don't like you and you don't like me so fu*k off."If they hit you or whatever you should hit them back. If you get into a fight, just tell your self its well worth it.
If you dont want to resort to fighting, I think you should tell a counselor. Of course they are going to call you a snitch and what not but just call her bit*h. I think that they will eventually sto ptormenting you. These are the type of girls who try and make people feel bad and talk shyt behind you back. I don't let it get to me. When girls talk about me I shrug it off. Though a couple of times it did get physical. Just say that you are a loser and you are miserable.
Reply:id beat the sh!t out of them, but you probably dont wanna get in trouble. lol
go to your guidance councler and maybe get switched out of the class, or tell the teacher.
Reply:Go to a book store and get this book called " Dealing with difficult people" it is a great book!
Reply:well first of all if theyre hitting you in the head with books and grabbing your hair and pulling your head up and down is assault. Have you talked to a counselor? Have you stood up to them, They sound like a bunch of twits and i bet if you were to go up to them and in a stern voice say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH they will get the hint...you sitting there letting them do this to you is a joke to them and they will continue until you stand up to them otherwise you're going to have to deal with them..speak up Talk to a counselor or a principal before it gets worse.

Just ignore them and see if you can move to a diffrent set in class. and if they still mess with you tell theacher or tell them to F off. but make sure you dont say it too loud. But if that dosnt stop them, get a couple girls you know and have them scare the girls that are messing with you. But the best thing to do would be to ignore them.

Reply:awww, poor girl. I know how you feel. But what you need to do is be the stronger person, and actually stand up to them. Like next time one of them puts a sticky-note on your back, turn around, and say something like,"You wanna f******** stop that?! Do you think that putting sticky notes on other people is funny? What are you guys like eight!?" These girls are obviously insecure about themselves and have nothing better to do than piss you off. So just stand up to them, and if that doesn't work, just ask your teacher to move you. Or try getting that class during a different block.

Do colleges prefer when you take undergrad at their shool?
I am thinking about becoming an orthodontist and I dont know where i should complete undergrad: a local community college or the University where i want to gradute from with a degree in orthodontics.
Do colleges prefer when you take undergrad at their shool?
Well you can't get a bachelor at all community colleges - some you can - most you can't. If you can't then you need to transfer to a 4 year university or a community college that allows you to.
And people are usually advised to do postgraduate studies at a different school - although not always. At my university they were quite happy to admit me to a PhD program if I wanted to.
It is not a straightforward question whether to go directly to university or to a community college first. The issues have been examined before:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
I know I will probably get thumbs down from those with a different view - and that is fine - but I believe your best bet is to go to a community college as it will save you a lot of money. However do become acquainted with the issues before making your decision by reading the link. Even better have a talk with a career adviser\guidance councilor about it as well.
Thanks
Bill
Reply:It is generally advised that you do not get a graduate degree from the same place you got your undergraduate degree.
There are lots of reasons for it, the most obvious being that you will get sick of the same atmosphere after so many years.
Reply:Well, you can't get a 4-year degree from a community college, for one thing. I don't know how it works for medical school, but for graduate schools, colleges prefer that you go somewhere else. It's considered bad form to stay in the same school for your entire education.
Reply:I think its up to you. If you really enjoy the school and area that its in-- the go for it. I got my BA and Masters from the same university. I really liked my professors and the town I lived in-- that makes a difference.
You decide if its good or not, but it does give you a chance to make some strong connections in the school and community that might be helpful when you get out.

If I get the braces off without retainers, will my teeth be able to go back to the original position?
I have been wearing braces for 1.5 years. I developed TMJ and facial nerve paralysis. My bite is completely off. When I tried to bite food that is a little bit harder, my jaw and neck feel sore. I also have tongue constrictions due to the narrowed arch which cause my tongue to have a burning sensation. My question is, if I have the braces off without retainers, what is the likelyhood for all my teeth to move back to the original position? I wish I had never started orthodontics treatment!
If I get the braces off without retainers, will my teeth be able to go back to the original position?
your teeth will move back to there place! You might want to talk to your orthodontist though... Your bite should not be off like that! I remember biting my cheeks and tongue sometimes because of the way my teeth were moving but in the long run the look great!!
Reply:Ugh, that sucks! I got braces to FIX my TMJ. : (
Your teeth will move back, yes; even with a retainer, they tend to shift slightly. So you might be able to save your jaw. I feel for you, though -- TMJ sucks, and for it to come AFTER you got braces is pretty much the crappiest thing ever.
Reply:Well, first off tell your dentist/orthodontist about the TMJ...they can use the braces to move your jaw and teeth around to fix what they messed up, and hopefully that will straighten you bite out too. And the likelyhood is 100%. I was actually surprised at how quickly it went. I got my braces off when I was 15 and I only wore my retainer at night right from the start. Bad Move. After a month, I had to go in and get all sorts of things done to fix what I did. Now, thankfully, my teeth are straight, but only because I wore my retainer exactly how they told me to. They aren't kidding around when it comes to those things... Its pretty much a retainer for life. But only at night, so really... who cares?
Reply:Yes they will i know loads of people too lazy to wear their retainer and they have just moved back
xx

Should I get invisalign or metal braces?
I went to the orthodontics and found out the cost and how long it'll ROUGHLY take:
invisalign- $159.50 for 20 months + $1800 down payment
metal braces- $135 for 20 months + $700 down payment
they wil take about the same amount of time except i don't know which one i want. I am more interested in invisalign since, well its invisible but which one has a bigger/longer effect? or are they the same?
which one would you get? im 15 years old
Should I get invisalign or metal braces?
I had metal braces and didn't use my retainers and my teeth have slightly moved. i talked normal though...i had a friend with invisalign and she talked kind of funny lol. but her teeth came out straight but still not as straight as mine. im not sure if they use retainers.
Reply:I say go with metal because do you see that down payment? I heard invisalign doesnt work well with crowding (if you have it.) Your parents will probably like to pay 700 compared to 1800. Metals are obviously cheaper, i say go with metal (and you get to pick fun colors! yeah!) Have fun! When do you get it?
God Bless!
