Pediatrician or Orthodontics?

I wondering what career should I decide to have. I don't really know which one is best to have.

Pediatricians work long hours?

Is being an Orthodontics a gruesome job?

Which has better pay?

Pediatrician or Orthodontics?
Pay should never be the only deciding factor in a job. Because being miserable or just disliking each and every day at a job isn't worth it, even if the pay is good! What good is money if life is miserable?

Both of those jobs pay very well. Pediatrics involves working with individuals 0-18 years, you have to have patience and also be able to work with difficult parents. Parents will be very different and overprotective of their sick or potentially sick children. You will also have to reveal bad news about young children to desperate parents. It can be tough. Don't forget the screaming, crying and biting part from unhappy children. Being a pediatrician can be gruesome, you may have to remove moles, cysts, observe nasty infections, etc. depending on whereabouts you work.

You mentioned pediatricians work long hours. Not sure why that would be, because if they own their own clinic then they pick their hours and this could be 9-5 every day. There is a lot of paperwork involved though.

Orthodontics is not necessarily gruesome... it all depends on the case. You can get some very gruesome cases in both jobs. With orthodontics you can work many extra hours for "on call" cases which are emergencies.

I am reading that orthodontists make between $100,000 and $400,000 annually. Pediatricians make between $140,000 and $180,000 and in some cases can even make well over $250,000 annually.
Reply:I like pediatrician better..that's my opinion. Orthodontist is all about peoples mouths and teeth. Pediatricians are all about kids and vaccines and babies.
