Orthodontics and TMJ Disorder?

Have you had/do you have TMJ? Have you had orthodontics to correct it and did it help?

Orthodontics and TMJ Disorder?
I have been told I 'grind my teeth' by my Dentist. At 49 it has been going on a long time. Likewise I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, so pain is pain. However, if I was told this years ago I would seriously seek help, last thing anyone wants is a Jaw Replacement. My Sister had one due to a accident years ago and they did not have MRI or CT back then so now has one jaw joint replaced, not a nice operation and is refusing to have the other side done, due to the experiences of the first operation. Get help and Good Luck.
Reply:It was braces that CAUSED mine in the first place. Make sure you get an ortho that knows what they're doing. I was told I would need a major oral surgery and about 2 more years of braces to fix mine.
