Orthodontics assistant?

what do the orthodontics dental assistants do for their job?

do they make braces and invislign for the dentist doctors? what is their job?

Orthodontics assistant?
While the first two answers can be correct, not all states have the same rules and regulations as far as what an ortho assistant can do legally...

Your best bet would be to go to www.danb.org, and search for your state... all the regs will be listed.

Best of luck!

Reply:Well i was an orthodontist assistant for about a year, I was actually hired w/o experienced and trained on the job. But I of course assisted the doctor with certain procedures, changed wires and ties, and even placed brackets. We started a new procedure where the brackets were "positioned" by the doctor before hand and then all we (I) had to do was prep the teeth, primer the teeth and brackets and place the molds onto the teeth, it was a lot of fun. But we did have an assistant that did lab work too. We all were responcible for the sterilization room, and we took x-rays, and progress photos.
Reply:I too was an ortho assistant for a year and a half.. had no experience.. trained on the job!

i placed brackets on the trays correctly, passed them to the doctor so he could put them on the patients teeth. i assisted with impressions and handed tools to the doctor. i got to clean up puke and clean the vanity every 5 seconds! haha

eventually i would have tied wires and such but i left before i had to do any of that..lol

but really.. not a bad job. kind of hectic at times.

only good if youre a people person!

good luck!
