Does these teeth look?
Strange picture- but they look ok.

There is a bit of recession on the gums, so they need a cleaning and I see some decalcification (maybe from braces) that may need a filling or veneers.

But overall- pretty good.
Reply:Not really.. Kinda gross

DIRTY MINGIN CROOKED
Reply:Normally this happens when braces are removed and the hygiene is not at 100% best when the braces are on. someoen had braces on but was not doing there best to keep the teeth clean, so the teeth decalcified around the brace line. that is what it looks like at least.

you can get bondings or crowns to fix this.

Does Invisalign cost the same whether you straighten top or bottom teeth or both?

I only need to straighten my bottom teeth, and my dentist recommended Invisalign. I was given a rough quote of $5000, but I don't think this was customized to my case. Does anyone know if Invisalign costs less if you only fix the top or bottom teeth, or is it $5000 always? Also, my insurance says it covers 50% of orthodontics but doesn't mention Invisalign. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

Does Invisalign cost the same whether you straighten top or bottom teeth or both?
Hi!

I do lots of Invisalign in my practice.

Invisalign charges us the same whether just the top teeth are done, just the bottom teeth are done, or if both top and bottom are done.

So in 99% of the cases a dentist will charge you the same whether you do just one arch or 2.

Simply because our bill to Invisalign is the same. And whether or not you are wearing one tray or two does not change the number of visits or the amount of chairtime we schedule for you.

Sorry!

Is it possible to switch your braces provider?

I currently go to orthodontic partners in RI. I am looking into damon braces and i have found out that the place that i am going to does not use this kind. I have found another place, Tollgate Orthodontics, that do use damon braces.

Is it possible for me to switch braces providers? I have already had phase I done in the first place. Can i just bring my record over?

Thanks

Is it possible to switch your braces provider?
Yeah. When I moved, we switched orthodontists when I already had braces. It shouldn't be a problem.

By the way, Damon works wonders. I had damon braces for a year and a half and my teeth are perfect. I was suppose to have them for four years. Way worth the switch!!!

I want to get Jaw corrective surgery?

Will Medicaid cover it? I am only 15 and I have a "weak" jaw (and chin) and it is unproportional to my face. I used to have a good jaw when I was little ( I saw pictures of myself). I currently have braces so I think that is affecting my jaw a little. I also saw before/after jaw corrective surgery and the person looked so much better.

So will Medicaid cover it? Do I get this type of surgery before or after the braces treatment. Also, Medicaid is covering my braces expenses as well ( I go to Montifiore Orthodontics in New York).

Thanks in advance!

I want to get Jaw corrective surgery?
Call Medicaid and ask them.
Reply:Somehow I think you asked this same question a day or two ago and the answer is still the same. What you describe at this point is a "cosmetic" issue and not a serious physiological issue, meaning that you haven't stated that the condition is harming your ability to eat or creating a health hazard. Because your a minor and for what ever reason you say you are subject to Medicaid insurance coverage, the fact that your a minor is in your favor. However, I'm in doubt that even Medicaid will pay for a procedure that is considered strictly cosmetic. If they do, your description of your jaw issue would lead me to believe that cosmetic jaw and or cheek implants would be the way to go.

Optometrist / Orthodontist?

For a future career, I'm strongly considering optometry or orthodontics.

What are the requirements for each? How much college time, what should you major in, and what kind of starting salary is there for each?

I'm currently a sophomore in high school, what should I do to prepare for this?

I originally really wanted to be a lawyer, but there's a surplus of them nowadays, and only the REALLY good ones get paid a lot, and I don't really think I'm suited to law.

I'll be happy for any advice anyone can give me.

Thanks in advance :)

Optometrist / Orthodontist?
Don't consider about salary or schooling. Most important thing, figure out if you love doing it. Go visit an optometrist, orthodontist, or one of the many different types of lawyers (criminal, corporate, real estate, etc). See what makes you passionate. Whatever your calling in life is, you'll make that job successful. If you go in just for the money or prestige, you'll just end up doing a mediocre job and no one wants to work with you or clients/patients don't want to go to you. And don't worry about surplus, there's a surplus of nearly every profession. There's certainly too many dentists and optometrists in my area. Then again, if you're passionate about what you do, you're good at it, and most importantly, treat people very nicely, people will come to you rather than the other doctor.

To answer your question real quick. Any 4 year major will do as long as you complete the pre-requisites. 1 yr of english, biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, calculus. Each school is a bit different, so you need to ask what other classes they may require. Some want pyschology, statistics, physiology, microbiology, or biochemistry in addition to the pre-requisites. In your junior year of college, you need to take the DAT for dentistry or OAT for optometry. Think of them like the SAT except more difficult.

Starting salary depends on where you live and whether you decide to work for someone or open your own practice. Usually around $50k as an associate doc working for someone for both. If you work hard and depending where, can be as high as 100-250k. Optometrists generally earn less in private practice than dentists.

TEETH GAP: Confused about options?

Friends,

I am 27, Male. I have gap in my front teeth. I have consulted a orthodontics doctor. It was very basic examination. I was asked to get the X-rays and Models ( which cost around $400).

Secondly, my insurance doesn't have ortho coverage and they told me treatment would cost as high as $5000. I have tried to get ortho coverage added to my insurance; looks like it was not possible with my existing group insurance.

Now, I am wandering around with the following questions ?

1. Is it really possible to get gaps closed at 27 ?

2. Are there any suggestions about the type of the treatment (should be inexpensive, since I can't afford $5000 )?

3. Anyways, doctor said he would decide about treatment plan after the X-rays (spending like $400 on this).. Not sure what Doctor would say afterwards.

4. What would be the best possible solution to this problem with the given constraints.

Thanks.

TEETH GAP: Confused about options?
It would help if you had stated the width of the gap. Edit 2-3mm can be reduced in 5 mins. I had a 2mm gap, the dentist closed it by just adding some material to each side, then cured it using ultra violet light.Sorry can't remember what the material was,but you cant see it. I don't think he even charged me. Edit..Just use a ruler,or a caliper.

How much were your braces prior to jaw surgery?

Just curious. My treatment is just under 2 years total in orthodontics. It's costing me over $11,000 for braces alone(no insurance so I've been paying cash). Is this typical or am I being overcharged?

How much were your braces prior to jaw surgery?
I'm in San Antonio, TX and braces range anywhere from $2,500 to $8,000. The average price is probably $4,000. You also got to remember demographics. If you are on a rich side of town the Dentist will probably charge you an arm and a leg. If yoiur Dentist is on a poor side of town he will probably be cheaper.
Reply:Wow, braces and surgery costed me that much.
Reply:I guess it depends on how bad your teeth are and where you live. I live in Ca and mine were $6,200 5 years ago. My son just got his on and his will be around $4,000... Yes, $11,000 seems really high, but again, how bad are your teeth?

When would i get power chains?

ANY ORTHODONTICS?? I've had my braces on for a month ill get them tighten monday feb. 25 is it possible ill get power chains de to this large gap in my front teeth? when will i ever get them?

When would i get power chains?
the orthodontist will determine when and how long you willl get power chains , they may not be in your treatment plan, due to the rapid movement that they cause. If you don't get them be PATIENT YOUR ORTHO WILL BE DONE IN AN ALLOTED AMOUNT OF TIME THAT IS BEST FOR YOU.
Reply:Ask your Orthodontist.
Reply:it depends on the orthos plans. he may want to move other teeth such as molars.

you really need 2 ask your ortho for the "gameplan"
Reply:The same thing is happening to me right now. I have had braces for almost two months and want to get power chains to close a small gap in my top front teeth, and for a small one in my bottom teeth. When I asked about them the first time, no one answered me, so I am presuming that they are waiting for our teeth to get into the correct positions before they give them to us? You will most likely have to wait longer than I will to get power chains because your gap is bigger than mine, and because I have had braces a month longer. I hope this helps, and good luck!

My daughter just got her braces for tmj removed?

My daughter had her braces removed about 4 years ago and all of a sudden after three years of little to no movement ( maybe one or two degrees out of a total of 4 or 5) They started moving!!! All the way back! she only has one degree left before they are moved back all the way and my question is will they continue to move? Her doc isnt around any more and i dont know what to do. I just dont want her to be in anymore tmj pain and orthodontics were the only thing that ever worked for her! we tried it all and now that they are 1 degree off from original, she talks funny now and its so pitiful! Either I hope they will move all the way back ( before she never talked funny; but inbetween movement it caused her an embarassing speech impetement for the first 3-6 monthes) or I want to get them redone for her. Someone please help who has had a similiar experience, thank you!!!!

My daughter just got her braces for tmj removed?
that's because braces don't help TMJ if anything makes it worse.

straightening teeth, pulling, filling down putting on caps etc don't fix TMJ

what state are you in?

you need to do your home work and find a TMJ/TMD specialist in your area and if not in your state. the jaw joint needs to be looked at

please email me direct with questions, maybe i can get some names for you if I know what state your in

How big of a turnoff is braces on a 20yo guy?

My teeth were way wretched growing up and my parents never would follow through with my orthodontics. I just decided to handle it myself at age 19 and my teeth look really straight now but I have to wear them till I'm 21years and 8months old. I am extremely self conscience about them and don't even bother talking to girls unless I am inibreated (sad I know). How big of a turnoff is this to you girls? BTW: I am extremely satisfied with going through with this. I would hardly talk to people when I had my crooked teeth.

How big of a turnoff is braces on a 20yo guy?
Aww, don't beat yourself up like that.

The right people will not care if you have braces because they truly care about YOU. The people that are so shallow to not give you a chance because of your teeth aren't worth your time anyway.

The people who do matter won't judge you and the people who don't matter will. just remember that.

if you're personality is likeable, then people will love you!
Reply:Well its better than having messed up teeth, i would actually find it cute. Good job on getting them yourself :)
Reply:Well, I'll be honest and say it's not my favorite thing. But, it's all about the attitude... if you have a personality and are ok with it then whatever- that could be a turn on.

Reply:I met my husband when he was 23 and he had braces for the first year and a half that we dated. I thought they were very cute, actually! And now his teeth look great.

Will my son need braces again to treat an impacted 12-year molar?

The dentist took x-rays showing that my 15-year old son has an impacted 12-year molar. He said that it could be straightened with orthodontics. My son had braces for 18 months starting at the age of 12 to address other issues, and now wears a retainer at night. I wonder whether the orthodontist should have addressed the impacted molar when he still had braces.

Will my son need braces again to treat an impacted 12-year molar?
My advice is to see his general dentist, I think he will refer your son to a oral surgeon and have the impacted molar taken out. Impacted molar usually don't correct themselves and this is just about the only solution to stop any pain he is having. l would like to think his orthodonist thought everything would be coming in as it is suppose to and didn't see a problem.

you might want to check with an oral suregon yourself and get his opinion.
Reply:if it is an upper 12 year molar, they may recommend it taken out, since often the third molar may drop into that spot. However, I generally think they would prefer to forcefully erupt it (i think that's what I would do if it was my child). Without seeing radiographs and the complete history, I can't really answer the core of your question. Lower molars would generally follow the latter advice. I would see your general dentist first with the question and ask for their advice. If you want a second opinion that is always an option too. Take care.

I want to be an Orthodontist assistant!!! need info?

average pay? and ive googled this over and over. but i cant find any good websites for orthodontics, like the basics. not for an average patient trying to learn about the basics of braces. i want in depth stuff of elastics and stuff.

thank you!!!! i have noooo idea why i want to do this...

Am I too needy?

Well, just asked if i was doing something wrong, and recieved some kind answers but one girl brought up a good point... she asked if i was being too needy?

I do not think i am, because i honestly dont give a crap if i have a girlfriend or not for the time being. I am pursuing a career in Orthodontics and am very secure about being single for a few years (honestly, dont care either way).

The problem was that whenever i make plans with a female i get stood up... i show that i am excited to hang out with them, because i am (not desperately or anything) and i do not express that i dont care if i have a girlfriend or not (so they wont think i'm just using them, because of my indifference)....

So, the main question here is, what would be signs to a girl that a guy is needy? I dont think of myself as needy but maybe i am throwing some flares up that makes them think otherwise?

Am I too needy?
You don't sound needy to me. Don't forget that what you type here is interpretted by different people different ways, and that person that made that comment about you doesn't actually know you and what you're like in real life.

I think you just haven't met the right girl hun. Good luck in finding her :)
Reply:i dont really ur needy ur just you and thats what you do. the girl in the other hand..well i think their the ones who r need ... but not all

Is orthognathic surgery possible for me (post-braces)?

I am a 26-year-old female who was born with an underbite. After having orthodontics (and six teeth pulled) from age 8 through 13, my bite was corrected, but I have subsequently developed chronic jaw pain. I haven't chewed gum in 10 years, but the pain has gotten to the point where I am unable to chew a number of foods. My jaw snaps many times a day and produces daily headaches. Even talking throughout the day can produce severe jaw fatigue.

I am wondering if I am a candidate for orthognathic surgery, since my bite has been corrected (and maintained with a permanent lower retainer that is still in place)? If not, what are my options? The (daily) pain has finally become too much for me to bear.

Thanks.

Is orthognathic surgery possible for me (post-braces)?
A consult with oral %26amp; maxillofacial surgeon is necessary who will do various diagnostic x-rays including your tm joints. It would be only after that any need for orthognathic surgery would be known or suggested.

I want to get Dental Plan, from BlueCross but I can't find one that cover Dental braces.?

I want to have a limited play, just enough to pay for my dental braces and don't want be a long term member of Blue Cross. Could anyone help me on this? I don't know anything about what they mean in this section:

Orthodontic Care

Orthodontics –

Adult $3,045

Retention $210

What do I pay? Just the monthly charges or what?

New to this stuff about Dental HMO. Please help.

I want to get Dental Plan, from BlueCross but I can't find one that cover Dental braces.?
Most dental plans don't cover braces because they usually are more of a cosmetic fix than a functional fix. If they did cover braces it most likely wouldn't be the invisalign ones, only the normal metal braces(especially with a HMO).

Maybe someone else knows one that does cover braces? (Sometimes they'll cover kids, but I don't know about adults)

Affordable health insurance in florida?

im 17, will be 18 in november, and i need to find health insurance. i need it to cover dental (orthodontics), prescriptions, and mental health services (depression, bipolar disorder).

i am a non smoker, and i have no kids.

please help!!!

Affordable health insurance in florida?
Do not try to do this over the internet. The quote sites do not take into consideration any pre-existing health conditions. The depression and Bipolar will result in an automatic decline with most of the companies. If you are on medication for those conditions it will be even harder to get a policy. If you try to apply over the internet there is a good chance you will be declined, which will make it even harder to find a policy.

You'll want to visit a local independent agent. The agent can talk with the underwriters of the different companies to see what your chances of getting a policy are before you apply and what options you have. Some companies might accept you but will not cover your health conditions or the prescriptions you take for those conditions. Some companies might cover your health conditions but will increase the premium. The agent can find that information as well.

Individual health policies generally don't cover dental but they may have it as an option. Depending upon the dental policy you get you will have a waiting period of 12 to 36 months before qualifying for orthodontic procedures.

You may also consider a medical discount card. Be very wary of these cards. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of “save up to 80%” be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. Montana couldn’t find any doctors in the whole state that actually took one card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card and fined the company. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes... for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards as well.

Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won’t give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they’re still taking the card (many don’t even know that they’re listed as a provider) and that they’re accepting new patients.
Reply:Go To esurance.com and they will give you a list of plans you qualify for you can then choose a plan fit for you within your budget.
Reply:Dental isn't covered under health insurance. If you're already diagnosed with depression and bipolar, you're probably not going to find a company willing to take you on, and give you ANY mental health benefits. Actually, you're probably not going to find anyone willing to cover you.

Save your money for the orthodontics. And find a job for the health insurance. You'll need access to the group policy through your employer.

Is it possible to fix an open bite without surgery?

Is it possible to fix an open bite without surgery? I.e with orthodontics? My dentist told me that it's not possible without surgery, is that true?

I ask because I seem to remember something about correcting it.

Is it possible to fix an open bite without surgery?
Do you mean an over bite? It sure is possible with orthodontics to fix even the worst of overbites. I suggest you skip the dentist and make an appointment with a specialist instead for a consultation. In fact, get two or three opinions.

Surgery is really the very, very last possible way I'd go and believe me, that would take some major convincing too.

I had a dislocated jaw, when they relocated it, I had a major over bite. I got several opinions that ranged from surgery to $20,000 in caps to braces. I chose braces and I am as good as new. These jokers are looking to make a buck, the idea that anyone in the medical professions are looking after our well-being is a lie. It's the almighty dollar going into their pocket that they care about.
Reply:hi am sure you open bite could be made better with purely orthdantics and elastics but it withh not be perfect

i think surgery is the only way too correct your open bite

you could try purely orthadontics but you might no be satisfied with the out come

am not going to pretend i no alot on open bites as i don't as i suffered from a underbite

but many many people that do have open bites are pursuing treatment right now, am a memeber of this forum the people are really friendly and are more likely to find someone able to answer your questions =]

NOWAY ive had a removable braces and there is no such thing as pain involved. And when you first go to the orthodontist they take a mold of your teeth and send it away so the brace can be made then the ortodontist gives you the braces and he clips it in and there you go easy :D

Orthodontists Question?

Orthodontics Question?

Is it true that Orthodontists make major money aka $300,000 - $400,000 a year?

Why is it so?

Please be as elaborate as you can.

Orthodontists Question?
Hi,

How much one earns is relative to where he or she works, in what town or suburb. Whether the area is metropolitan or rural. If the orthodontist has lots of patients and they pay well and not forget or pretend to forget to pay their bill, yes it could be as high as that. Also if you have friends in the field, colleagues who value your opinion in this field and get referrals for it, yeah, maybe. But if one or the other is missing, maybe not as high.

Why is it so? Hmmm.... for one, if you have more patients, you have more income, that is if they pay you. IF you are in a more urban or metropolitan area, they tend to charge more than the usual because their rent is higher and cost of labor for all the other staff who work for you. So, you have to charge more and the people who go to these locations are usually people who can pay and will pay, so not too much worries about that part. Then, also, if you do a good job, your satisfied patients will refer other people to you for their orthodontic concerns. The people they refer you to, have families and friends too. I guess that is the same with other kinds of business, but for Orthodontic practices, the first money out for you in terms of materials is only initially, for the most part at least, that is where the bulk of your expenses are. Later on, when patients come for adjustments or follow up, you don't have to spend as much for materials. In a way, you are being paid on and on for your skill, which you also acquired expensively at school.

That is as elaborate as I can get.
Reply:Orthodontists do make great money!!! In a many cases, orthodontics are considered cosmetic although they are finding that many procedures will help with problems that may occur in the future. I have 2 sons, one with a retainer preparing to go into braces and another who has top braces. My insurance covered half of their procedures so far and our portion was still over $1000. And we're not done yet with the youngest one. Standard braces are not as expensive. Clear ones cost more. When my ex did research into getting braces, our insurance would cover none of the $3000 it would take for him to get them. To me, it has been worth every penny to have my sons teeth perfect.

Scaling and Root Planing + wisdom teeth removal + braces?

first i went to orthodontics he recommended braces to correct my deepbite

also he looked at my xray he told me to have 3 wisdom teeth removed before installing braces.

Then I went to dentist for initial exam (he said I have a cavity and then I had a filling)my dentst recommended deep clean because i never had regular clean before in my life.

I have to get braces, deep clean and wisdom teeth removal all are 3 different specialist which should I get first

when should i have my teeth cleaned(deep clean) 1.before wisdom teeth removal

2. after wisdom teeth removal.3 or after i had my braces

Scaling and Root Planing + wisdom teeth removal + braces?
You need to get the deep cleaning done before the braces are put on or they won't be able to do it while your in ortho. Doesn't really matter if you do cleaning first or extractions.

What are the important strategies to consider when making plans for things such as deciding on benefits for em

Explain to management the primary strategic consideration involved in managing a benefits program that includes health insurance, life insurance, free orthodontics and dental, one week of paid sick leave, one week of paid vacation, 401K savings plan, office incentive program, and some paid holidays.

What are the important strategies to consider when making plans for things such as deciding on benefits for em
Many people have made careers answering this question because there is no easy answer.

Firms of every size go to experts to help them answer it.

Large firms hire large international consulting firms (like Hewitt Associates, Towers Perrin, Mercer consulting, etc.) to analyze the role of benefits in their human resource strategy. They take into account the characteristics of the employee group, the target market the firm is trying to attract new employees from, gov't regulations, and cost. The recommended program is tailored to maximize the effect on employees.

Small firms tend to go to benefit program brokers who offfer a menu of options to select from. The key issue is generally cost, since the simple existence of the benefit program differentiates that firm from its competitors.

In general, the ideas are simple:

You need to look at what your competitors are doing: Are they offering benefits you are not? Is that causing desirable employees to work for them rather than you? Do you offer a program your competitors don't that your employees don't use or care about?

Look at cost:Are the levels of benefits provided adequate and are costs in line with that level of value?

Employee satisfaction: Do employees understand your programs? Do they appreciate the value they receive through the programs?

Are the programs you offer helping employees and achieving your goals for them? Do people complain about the doctors or dentissts they have to go to? Is one week of sick leave enough? (Do people run out of sick days early in the year and come in sick?)

Benefits consultants are out there because it often helps to have outside perspective in assessing these issues.

Invisalign, x-rays and pierced ears??

I am going to get invisialign soon. And I was wondering how often you have to get orthodotic x-rays. cus i already got the first ones done today when i went to my consultation visit. but i am also gonna get my ears pierced really soon and i know you cant have any jewelry on when you take x-rays. so if i get my ears pierced i wont be able to like take them out for a little while so i was just wondering if there will be time for them to heal if i get my ears pierced sometime next week, before i take my next x-rays. i still havent done the impressions and all that stuff yet for invisialign and i already know that it takes a month for the invisialign to come back once my orthodontics orders it. so i just would like to know how long until the next x-rays after you get invisalign actually in. and after the six months or healing time can you take your earrings out for like 5-10 minute and put them right back in so i can take x-rays and put them right back in??

Invisalign, x-rays and pierced ears??
I've had a similar problem! The answer is yes just don't leave the earring out for more than a day. THEY WILL CLOSE! The x-rays are like every month for a year! So it won't be a BIG deal!

Anyone know of forums for braces ? Please help !?

Hey guys, getting my braces in a week. Are there any braces sites out there that has forums with pics. I for some weird stupid reason got banned from BracesForum.net, not really sure why that happened. I regularly posted pics of my friends and kept the site going and now they ban me !!! Now I have to find another site with pics of guys and girls in braces and closeups. Anyone have suggestions ? I am also in my final year of dentistry and doing orthodontics so im gonna need some pics and info.

Thanx guys

Anyone know of forums for braces ? Please help !?
People don't get banned for doing nothing. Sorry but your out buddy.

Although it is created for adults, they have a lot of younger people (I'm registered there and am only 16). Absolutely amazing forum.

My dentist told me he may have to break my jaw to correct my bite and over-crowding?

I have moderate to severe crowding on my bottom teeth, and an overbite. This causes my lower teeth to bang against the back of my upper teeth, making them sensitive. If this continues my bottom teeth will eventually be damaged and even more crowded.

My dentist told me if I opted for braces I'd have to wear a retainer pretty much for the rest of my life to make sure the teeth didn't move back. He said even if he removed teeth to make room, chances are they'd shift back. What are the drawbacks of jaw surgery vs regular orthodontics? While the thought of having my jaw broken terrifies me, I don't know what the long-term costs would be for orthodonics if I have to keep wearing a retainer. Help please!!

My dentist told me he may have to break my jaw to correct my bite and over-crowding?
Try getting a second opinion. Most Ortho consultations are free. I had braces and I'm told I have to wear my retainers my whole life if I want to keep them from shifting. Some ppl have permanent retainers. If you are unsure, always get a second opinion. It's your money and teeth after all. =)
Reply:After you get your braces off, you can get permanent retainers on your teeth.

I've never heard of anyone breaking a jaw as a cure. You should run away from that dentist.
Reply:I would see another dentist or ortho. I had a ortho who wanted me to have jaw surgery to move my lower jaw a tiny bit so my overbite would be perfect after braces. I found another ortho after my dentist said this was a BAD idea.. Please see another dentist who will suggest something safer for you and your health.
Reply:I've never heard of such a thing, and I'm old. Some dentists are weird and I think yours is so find another one.

I'm a college student that work at Walmart(not making much). What should I do?

I have a $300.00 car note, a $100.00 car insurance, $140.00 orthodontics bill, and $40.00 credit card bill. Recently I cashed a check into my savings account for $2960.00, thinking that was help me pay off some of these bills. I just learned that the check may be a fraud. I asked the bank teller was it OK and she assured me that it was, I also called the company to check to she if the check was real. Now I owe my bank $1600.00. I'm 21 with good credit(had)... What to do?

I'm a college student that work at Walmart(not making much). What should I do?
Where was the check from? Ask them for another (good!) check, passing a bad check is bank fraud!

If you are still in college, you need to ditch the car. $300 a month? For what? To drive to school and WalMart? For three month's payments and change you could have a paid off $1000 car that the insurance would be minimal on. It wouldn't look as nice, but you wouldn't be struggling!

There are no rich people driving fancy cars! Only people (just like you) who are in debt. Fix it before it becomes a lifetime habit!
Reply:It is NOT possible for the bank teller to know if a check is fraudulent. If you called any number ON THE CHECK it is as fraudulent as the check. What happened to the money you put in your savings?

If your car payment is $300, I am willing to bet you can't afford the car. SELL IT and buy the cheapest transportation you can find. Even with the shortage from being upside down on the car, and I promise you are, your payments will be less than they are now.

If you already owe the bank, you may as well make it a formal loan.

What are spacers used for?

my sister had spacers on last monday and the dentist told her that it will make a space between her teeth and when they put her braces they will make a ring around her molar .. this monday she got my braces and she took out the spacers because she thought she wouldnt need them any more. when she got to the orthodontics place she told the dentist that she took off the spacers and then dentist put her the braces but she didnt put the ring around her molar.. she just put the wires in the front of her teeth.. i just wanted to know what hte point of spacers were if they didn't put the ring around her tooth.. or if the dentists are going to do that later..

What are spacers used for?
spacers are to make a space in ur braces so the ring in the back can slide on easier, but you dont really need them they just make everything alot easier..and your sister must have the rings because if she didnt her braces wouldnt stay on..they wouldnt be braces. ask your orthodontist if you need more answers. trust me i have braces.
Reply:The following is taken from the article "What are Orthodontic Spacers" on our website, ArchWired.com:

Your orthodontist may have told you that you need to have spacers before your braces go on. What does this mean?

Some of your teeth may need brackets that are attached to metal bands that go all the way around the tooth.* Usually, the bands are used only on molars. If the space between your molars is very tight, it will be difficult for the orthodontist to put the bands on the teeth. Therefore, space must be opened up to fit the bands in. This is where spacers come in.

Spacers are little rubber nodules that fit between the teeth. In some cases, your orthodontist may use a metal spacer, which looks like a tiny metal hinge. The spacers stay between your teeth for several days and move the teeth apart slightly. You wear the spacers 24/7 until your orthodontist removes them. Do not floss teeth that have spacers between them (it will be impossible)!

Are spacers uncomfortable? Yes, they usually are. It feels like you have something stuck between your teeth -- and you do! In some cases it may be more than just uncomfortable; it may ache. If so, take pain reliever (such as ibuprofen) as needed.

Spacers usually stay between your teeth for several days; sometimes for as long as 10 days. The spacers are taken out before your braces are put on. The braces don't hurt like the spacers; in fact, when the spacers are removed, it feels so much better, even after the braces are put on!

Many people on Metal Mouth Forum have remarked that spacers were the worst part of the entire process. Perhaps that's not very encouraging, but remember, they're only in your mouth for a short period of time. You can deal with it. They'll be in, then they'll be out, and you'll be done with it. Hang in there, you're on your way to a better smile! And if those spacers really bug you, drop in to the Metal Mouth Message Board and spill your guts. We love to commiserate! :-)

sorry about the spelling the spell checker wasnt working

Where do you get most gore and disgusting patients?
general dentistry sees probably more patients with disgusting mouths on a regular basis. Some people visit the dentist after never going to one for years or ever before. If that happens they have so much calculus build up that their teeth are hidden under all that gunk. Anyone who is seeing someone with a speciality probably have visited dentists throughout their lives and they have already been assessed by a general dentist. So the GD sees everyone first and refers them. So GD see it all because they either fix it or refer people.
Reply:Oral Surgery and Perodonics are the most bloody and patients usually have more severe dental problems. If you're looking for a higher dental salary, hygiene (which usually aren't doctors) and general restorative dentistry make less due to the fact that the procedures cost less to do. But don't just go into something for the money. Find one that you're passionate about and what your interest is.

What is the average cost of a sagittal split osteotomy?

I have been researching this all over the web and can't get a concrete estimate. I have been told around 5000, but I need to know for sure so I can know if I can afford to get a loan. I can't seem to find an insurance policy that includes orthodontics and all oral surgeries are excluded on the policies. I know the braces will cost 5000. I can get assistance from the hospital to cover their costs, but still need to pay the surgeon and anesthesiologist.

What is the average cost of a sagittal split osteotomy?
This plan may help you as it covers orthodontics

You can also click on LOCATE A PROVIDER and see what providers there are in your area. Call them up and make sure that they perform this procedure and are still taking AmeriPlan benefits. You can get the plan at this site as well.

Hope this helps!
Reply:You may be looking into the wrong coverage. Sagittal splits fall under reconstructive facial surgery not oral surgery and is therefor covered by most insurance plans with a good pre-authorization letter from your surgeon. Your surgeon should be able to delineate to the insurance company that the surgery is to correct a skeletal malformation which has implications with speech and mastication, and that it is not cosmetic. Sagittal splits can be done by craniofacial surgeons and also some plastic surgeons in addition to oral surgeons. What you need to be asking for coverage is for orthognathic surgery instead of oral surgery.

Dental School Opinions?

Alright, I would like to go to dental school in the future and plan to stay in the Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo vicinity, or Ann Arbor. I know of Case Western, UPenn, Pitt, and Michigan having good dental schools, so which one, in your opinion, would be the best for specialization in orthodontics?

Also, I have heard that going to the same school for undergraduate and graduate school is not a good idea. I am mostly concerned because because my two front runners for undergrad school would be michigan and pitt. Any feelings on that?

Penn has an excellent ortho program. A Penn dental graduate may have a better chance of being admitted, because you can get to know some people in the department and show an interest in ortho.

Career Question?

Hello I am 17 and a senior. I had braces for 3 yrs and I like to become an orthodontist assistant. As a patient I like the environment and feel that part of that comfort was from the orthodontist assistances. I have done research over the internet and didn't get the answers to my questions. Only the job descriptions they hold. But I have searched pass questions and is the pay really 15$. I would like to help improve people smiles. I just want to hear from someone who is in the orthodontics field. Also what kind of training is required. I would appreciate for any help I get.

Thank You.

Career Question?
JOIN a great group now- HOSA its Health Occupations Students of America. They are both high school and college students. A dental career is wonderful. Meet other medical minded professionals from all over the USA and have a support group.

Study both orthodontist assistant and "cleaning" Hygienist become certified in both. That will broaden your range of patient care. The pay varies based on experience in the field. Contact your doctor and talk to his staff.

Go in person and talk to other dentist and staff...do the legwork and find out "WHO" trained them and where do they get their continuing education classes at?

Most Junior Colleges offer techincal training. Go to a college, not a "techinical" school that way you have college credit hours that can be used for more advanced degrees.. Say you want to be a nurse in four years....well that education is already in your degree plan and your well on your way.

Best wishes.

Each state mandates the hours of experience and certification needed to work in a medical office of any kind.

You can contact your state "board of health" and they will help you out.

I would cut that in half and just go to a local college couselour and find out.

MBT system vs. Ormco Damon system.?

I am now 32 years old, and considering straighten my teeth with braces. My orthodontics doctor saids I need to have 4 teeth extracted before wearing braces. I know there're 2 above mentioned systems typically used in hospitals in the city I live, but I wonder which one is more suitable in terms of shortened treatment time as well as comfort. Any views and advices in this regard are highly appreciated.

MBT system vs. Ormco Damon system.?
ORMCO DAMON HAS BEEN TESTED AND HAS BEEN SHOWN BY A FEW RESEARCHERS TO CAUSE LESS PAIN AND DISCOMFORT, SHORTENED CHAIR TIME AND LONGER TIME BETWEEN RECALL VISITS IE 12 WEEKS INSTEAD OF 4 WEEKLY RECALLS, AND HAS ALSO BEEN SHOWN TO HAVE REDUCED TREATMENT TIE BY ABOUT 3 MONTHS ON AVERAGE.

How much do Braces cost in Indianapolis,IN....??
In your area braces cost around $4700, but that's about what they are everywhere else.

Most dentists offer montly payment plans, which run around $150-$200 a month.

Good luck to you.
Reply:It is like a car payment around $400 a month. Crazy but so worth it.
Reply:about $4,000-$5,000
Reply:Ok first of all your retarded braces cost the same $5,000
Reply:I am here in Illinois and my orthodontist charges a flat rate for all braces (ceramic and regular) which is $5950. You might be able to call around and see if others do this or if they can give you an estimate. On average, braces range from $3000-$7000. Most orthodontists offer consultations for little to no fee. You should see at least 2 since treatment options and prices may vary. Depending on what the orthodontist finds, he will probably recommend that you have some teeth extracted. Some orthodontists try their best to not do extractions. Ask other people who have or had braces who they recommend.
Reply:Do you have dental coverage?

If you do then you may only be liable for your deductible. If not then you need to get a hold of a discount dental plan before getting the braces started.

You can get that at the web address below.

This plan will save you about half off on your braces.

I need someone who is an Orthodontist to answer this or anyone who might know these answers?

Im doing my sophomore project on Orthodontist that is what im going to study for. I need to know what the salary for a specialized orthodontist is. All the schooling that you need or can do to be specialized in orthodontics. What are some skills you should work on having or need for this job. And if you are a orthodontist or specialized orthodontist can you please tell me what a day at work is like. Thank You

I need someone who is an Orthodontist to answer this or anyone who might know these answers?
Unless you work in a clinic you wont have a set salary. When you own your practice you take a percentage of the production your office makes. You will have to get your bachelors degree plus four years of dental school then two years of speciality schooling/interning. Helpful skills would be hand eye coordination, you also have to have excellent people skills to help your practice grow with orthodontics because you deal with the same people every month sometimes twice a month for years. I always recommend that patients find an ortho office where the really like the staff since they are basically married to them for the length of the treatment. In ortho the assistants honestly do most of the hands on work, taking impressions, measurements, adjusting bands etc. Hope this was helpful

also please tell me how to fix it!!!!! Should i brush until it bleeds? plz help. thanks.

What kind of gum desiese is this?? (Better picture....) PLEASE HELP?
This is gingival hyperplasia commonly seen in orthodontic patients. The party line says that you just have to brush and floss better, but after 30 years I'm starting not to believe that. I think it has something to with the braces themselves. After all, braces work by tricking the body into remodeling tissues by triggering enzymes that dissolve bone and the periodontal ligament on one side of the tooth while creating more of the same on the other side. It might be that some people's gums are more susceptible to the forces applied by braces than others.

This is not a very scientific answer, but I've seen so MANY kids who take wonderful care of their teeth with this type of hyperplasia and even more who you would think SHOULD have this problem because their hygiene is terrible, but they don't.

Don't worry too much, though. Once the braces are removed, things will return to normal. In 30 years, I've only had to trim tissue in maybe 5 or 6 patients where they didn't return to 100% normal.
Reply:gyngivitis
Reply:Can you not compare yourself.
Reply:this is gingivitis, an inflammation of your gum. It's a response of your gum because of the infiltration of bacteria. the best way to fix it, is controlling your oral hygiene by brushing your teeth frequently and perfectly (all part of your teeth mustn't be missed). and do scaling as well, it can removed all your plaque accumulation.

What are the typical orthodontic loads for treatment with ceramic brackets?

I want to determine if the shear bond strength of a certain ceramic bracket is adequate to prevent premature debonds and low enough to prevent enamel damage. I need to know what loads (values in MPA, N/sq.mm, etc.) are typically applied during orthodontics and if there is literature available that I can use.

What are the typical orthodontic loads for treatment with ceramic brackets?
I'm surprised all the arm-chair dental materials scientists out there aren't jumping all over this one. What in the world would cause you to plague yourself attempting to gather this information? If the bracket that you are enquiring about is currently used, then the answer would be yes under most circumstances it will prevent premature debonding and no it will not cause enamel damage. There is literature. Call information. Call any dental school in the U.S. Ask for the dental materials department. Ask to speak to anyone doing research. There you will find the answers you are seeking.

The work may take longer or you may have longer appointments but it will be less expensive. Whether to choose a General dentist or orthodontist for class2 division 2 malecclusion for a 12 yr old.?

my daughter who is 12 yrs old has class 2 division 2 mollecclusion. and her lower jaw is too backwards. We went to a general dentist who also does orthodontics. He said it costs $4000, treatment: First phase he will put some blocks and some bite plate to correct the bite and then in the second phase he will put the braces. We had good referals for him from our friends.

But since OUR general dentist suggested us to go for ortho, we went to one and he said two options. extraction and nonextraction. In the first case he will remove the two upper first molar teeth and move back the other teeth and put braces. and second option was to use braces first and then herbst to move the lower jaw forward. He said the lower jaw is 6 mm backward. He kind of scared us saying that it's difficult to move it that forward it all depends on her growth of the lower jaw. The quote he gave was $5250 . We live in CAlifornia.

Is this case difficult to treat by a dentist?

Please help me choose.

Whether to choose a General dentist or orthodontist for class2 division 2 malecclusion for a 12 yr old.?
I beg you not seek treatment from a general dentist. I am an Orthodontist and have seen some poorly treated cases by dentists. Majority of them have no clue. I end up correcting a mess of an occlusion. I charge $5350 in my Northern California practice and am not big fan of Herbst appliance. Since your daughter is 12 yrs, it is possible achieve functional growth and I routinely use an applicance called MARA (Manidular Anterior Repositioning Device) with good results. Hope that helps.
Reply:Since your child is still young, you may wish to have that mal-occlusion surgically corrected, and the jaw properly lined up before you start pulling teeth, and jamming on braces. It IS difficult to move teeth that far, and the results are not good, since the teeth will never properly align.

See an oral surgeon first, and make it a team effort. If you are in S. california, I can give you the name of the top cosmetic dentist in the area --- people fly in from all over everywhere to see her.... and she has the best connections, and has it done correctly.... write me. I now live in another state, and I fly in to have her do my dentistry... as do my friends... she's that good.

Adult tooth growing in strangely?

Last August I noticed a tooth beginning to protrude from my gums. My family dentist had a look at it and told me that I didn't have anything to worry about for the time being and that it was just an adult tooth that had come late (I'm 20). However, now it seems to be protruding from my gum at a very odd angle and rubbing up against the inside of my lip (it's a canine) and is changing the angle of the adult tooth beside it. The baby canine has yet to fall out. I'm worried as I am a student and have no dental insurance and my family doesn't have much money at this time of the year. I've never had a problem like this before. Should I be worried? Will I need orthodontics?

Adult tooth growing in strangely?
You should go to the dentist and have the baby tooth removed. There's a chance that the permanent tooth will ease into the correct position, or close to it, after that tooth is out of the way. But you may need braces down the road, when you can afford it.

Your dentist should have done something about this a long time ago.
Reply:Well, about the only option I can think of is braces.
Reply:you are twenty and still have a baby canine? You dentist is a moron WARNING IDIOT ALERT and should be replaced immediately.

The baby tooth needs to go and quick before all your other teeth are knocked out of alignment. If you are a full time student your family member that has insurance should be able to get you on their plan with little problem. At least get a second opinion, fast. Many small town dentists have payment options for those uninsured. Do it now while it will stil be manageable, braces are huge money.
Reply:you probably need the tooth pulled asap so it doesn't cause any more damage. another dentist should be able to tell you whether to pull the baby one and fix the other tooth, pull them both, or whatever other options...i obviously am not a dentist. :)

do you have any dentistry schools in your area? if so, call them and ask what it costs to come to the school as a patient. they are always looking for "volunteers" to practice on. the plus is that the student is good plus the dentist they are learning from are GREAT.

also, many dentist offer payment plans. call around and ask. same as orthodontist!

good luck! SD
Reply:Sorry to freak you out, but yes you should be worried. Go to the ortho immeditanty. You might need braces. (It doesn't hurt until you tighten it..ouch)

Possible to get braces in another country then come to another country for treatment?

i'm going to the philippines for the summer and will be getting braces. i'm there for about 2 months and will be coming back to illinois for the remainder of my time with braces. is it possible that i can get treatment here? like tightening it and having it removed? i called sears dental and asked if i can continue my treatment here and they said that i would still have to make the full payment of like 4,000 dollars because they would have to change the brackets to the ones they have. i'm thinking its their way of making money, but they said it's what all orthodontics do. is this true? is it possible for me to get treatment here when i already have braces? if so, how much will it cost me? is there an orthodontic that won't make me change my brackets and pay for the full price?

Possible to get braces in another country then come to another country for treatment?
yeah usualy Dentista wont work on other Dr. braces and if they do they want the full amount.....Unless you go to a phiippine Dr. in the states they might help you

cause you need to see a Dr every 2-4 weeks to change elastics and wires or just for a check or try a dental school.
Reply:IF YOU HAVE THE BRACES HERE IN THE USA ANY AMERICAN ORTHODONTIST FROM 'SEARS' WILL BE GLAD TO DO YOUR CASE.

Reply:i have no idea about NYU or oxford, but i had a friend who got into baylor with similar stuff as you...oklahoma university is very good, easy to get into and still affordable...i wanted to commend you on your efforts though...you seem to be a very focused person and i hope for the best for you....and its good that you are keeping a wide variety of classes...my friend was going into pediatric oncology and she attended a camp for her major...they told her that its good to keep your classes broad but your activities specific, so keep up with nhs debate and tennis...they like commitment....oh, p.s: if you can handle any more in your life, you may try being prez of nhs...i was and it looks great on resume....

oh...and when you take your ap tests, try to focus the most on which ones pertain the most to your career because i took a ton but have of them don't count for my major requirements...it was a waste of time...

oh again...make sure to take the psat and do well...national merit scholars get crap loads of scholarships...and if you decide to attend ou, work on your act scores rather than sat...oklahoma schools like that

good luck
Reply:Oxford and NYU? What the hell, give it a try.

Full mouth implant reconstruction?

how worth is it? my teeth are so bad, I think it's easier to just have implants. money is not an issue.

how complicated is that? is it easier to undergo many endodontic treatments, crownings, orthodontics, extractions than just get all the sht teeth out and have implants?

don't looking at all at money, would you suggest it..?

Full mouth implant reconstruction?
Have your mouth evaluated by a periodontist for gum structure and health. Have your mouth evaluated by an endodontist for potential complications of surgery. Have your mouth evaluated by a highly referred cosmetic dentist.

Implants are fine for the front ten teeth, top and bottom but may not be stable enough for the rest as they, obviously, are the biting surfaces for grinding your food and take more abuse than your front teeth.

google crown council or American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists for referrals to highly skilled specialists in this field.
Reply:Considering the same thing. I can't speak from experience (yet), but two very good general information sites I've come across:

And http://www.costhelper.com/cost/health/de... says they run between $1250 and $3000 apiece, and occasionally up from there.

What colleges could I get into?

College Acceptance?
The first thing to do is become acquainted with some of the schools out there. For that check out:

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/30/educat...

Now you have got a feel for some the schools go to:

http://www.collegeboard.com/student/csea...

Use it to find similar schools to those in the article above and ferret out more choices. Home in on a few schools that you like.

Go to those schools web sites and learn more about the schools. Once you know a bit about them drop a few of them (3 - 4) a line about getting admitted. Schools usually love it when you show an interest. Then simply do what they suggest. For example, it may come as a surprise, but schools often don't actually like AP - they prefer Honors classes. I see people taking heaps of AP - but it may actually be a turn off to schools. Experts who post a lot around here - like Neniaf - recon 3-4 AP is more than enough. Just one example of how getting in touch with schools can save you in counterproductive effort.

Ok now to the schools I like for you. With grades like that the ivies like Harvard are not out of the question. A tough ask, but I believe you have a shot. And Harvard for example only charges 10% if you earn under 180K and zero if you earn under 60K. NYU is also a possibility. To maximize your chances there check out:

http://www.enotalone.com/article/18690.h...

That would be the higher range type schools. Overseas universities have different entrance requirements. My understanding is that HS in the US is generally not good enough to get in - so Oxford may be out.

For middle choices consider schools like Pitzer and Carleton. I believe you have a good chance of getting into such schools. As a safety look into Wooster.

Thanks

It happens sometimes. The glue weakens over time and they just pop off.

Get off orthadontist expander early??????

I have one of the orthadontist expander, similar to this one http://www.orthodontics.org/expander.jpg

except mine has huge plastic covers over all three of my molars on both sides of my mouth. I have been having some problems with it, such as, it has been cutting into my tongue severly, I think that I lost one of my baby molars inside the unremovable plastic covers, and I have another baby tooth (I kept my teeth in way longer than I should have) that is loose, but it has glue from the covers on it. My dad is also going to suggest that it come off early, but he doesnt really know much about teeth. Do you think my orthadontist will take my expander off early?

Get off orthadontist expander early??????
You have raised an excellent question and it is a dilemma when a bonded hyrax (that is what you have) is bonded to baby teeth and the teeth are exfoliating (coming out).

The bonded hyrax is now preventing the permanent teeth from erupting since you are shedding the primary teeth. You and your parents should speak to the orthodontist. It does sound like this appliance needs to be removed.

However, it will likely need to be replaced with another to hold the expansion that has been gained. A transpalatal arch or nance are holding appliances or a banded hyrax with bands on molars only if expansion is still needed. Attached is a link showing some of these appliances.
Reply:Expanders are put on for a reason, there is not enough room in your mouth. I would not recommend getting it off early if it is not in the best interest of your orthodontist. They are the boss, they went to school for 10+ years and they are trying to help your smile look beautiful.

I know they can be uncomfortable but it is making the treatment you have in the future be a more pleasurable one. I know it is hard not to play with a funny appliance in your mouth, but try and keep your tongue away from that area and this will keep the trauma to your tongue to a minimum.

Do orthodontic retainers have to be tightened?

I have had my braces off for approximately 4 years after having them for about 2 and a half hears. I wear my retainer every night (otherwise i can tell they have moved and bother me when i put them back in) My retainers are loose i think i can click them in and out with my tongue. Do I need to get them tightened? My orthodontist who is actually my dentist but does some orthodontics did my braces and never mentioned me coming to have them tightened after having the braces off. Do i need to have them tightened? Just curious? I go for regular checkups and i tell them i wear them and he said they havent moved much but has never mentioned having them tightened should i mention it? thanks!

Do orthodontic retainers have to be tightened?
REtainers are simply there to retai nthe shape of your teeth. They are not there to move your teeth, like braces do, and that is why they tighten braces. Retainers don't need to be tightened, although if they find that the shape is not working too well, your orthodontist can easily bend a part of it without breaking it. It's not tightning, it's more of repositioning. It's normal if you can click them in and out with your tongue, but consult your ortho just in case, because they might want to adjust it. REadjusting retainers don't hurt.
Reply:I'm not sure if they tighten retainers, but I get mine adjusted every 6 months or so. If it feels weird, just ask him if it needs to be adjusted
Reply:I don't think so. I've had my braces off for over two years and I visit my orthodontist regularly and he has never mentioned tightening them to me, he only tells me to wear it every night.
Reply:yes you can get them tightened. usually after u wear ur retainers for a few months u go back to get them tightened. if ur teeth have shifted slightly it prolly is becuz they r loose.

Financial assistance for kid who desperately needs braces?

Does anyone know of any financial assistance for a kid who needs braces bad but cannot afford $6000.00 for them. My son has Florida kidcare but his dental insurance does not cover orthodontics. Any ideas?

Financial assistance for kid who desperately needs braces?
If you can find a dental training school in your nearby area, they can do treatment for training purposes or research for a fraction of the cost.
Reply:contact the Shriner's organization, they may be able to help.

TEETH GAP: Please suggest on options?

Thanks.

TEETH GAP: Please suggest on options?
1. As long as the bone and tissue are healthy and not webbed between your front teeth, it is definitely possible to close the gaps at your age. Teeth can be straightened at any age.

2. If you are not keen on braces now, as I said above, teeth can be straightened at any age. If it is important for your career now, then arrangements can be made to pay for treatment over time or through CareCredit and stretch out the payments for as long as you like.

3. Orthodontic records would need to be done in any office to have a baseline measurement and create a treatment plan. The cost of $400 is in line with the average for that.

4. Without having the records, no one can tell you if this is the best possible solution to your problem. That is why you need to have records done. You cannot create a treatment plan without having an assessment.

After you have had your records done, the information will be more readily available for the dentist to offer you options for treatment. You are the one who has to decide if the dentist's recommendations fit with your lifestyle. There is more than one way to fix any dental problem.
Reply:Ermm i would say dont spend money if you want to give it away send it to me rather then that just be confedent
Reply:leave it as it is mate
Reply:Without looking at your casts it would be hard to say if you have other options. One thing to consider is you could do veneers to close the "diastemas" which is as costly as braces. Long term you would be better off to get braces. It will be more benificial as far as your bite, condile placement (tmj), and digestive health.

Veneers involve removing some of your enamel in order for them to bond them to your teeth. So you would be looking at possible seepage and then crowns.

Most orthodontist will let you pay monthly payments on your treatment. That was the case with me. I was 30 when I got my braces, now almost 10 years later I have more confidence in my appearance and my patients have more respect for me as a dental technician.

Hope this helps.

Metal braces, and colored braces!!!! PLEASE ANSWER QUICK!!!!!!!!?

My sister Trisha is 11 years old. She is going to the orthodontics soon, because of the spaces in her teeth and also because she has buck teeth as well. She keeps on asking me if because her dentits says she is going to get (train tracks) metal braces, if she cannot get coloured braces. I heared she will still get metal braces, and will also still get coloured ones over them.Or something like that

(But the truth is that I don't have a clue.)

SO COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT THE WHOLE SYSTEM ABOUT GETTING METAL AND COLOURED BRACES?

(before my sister turns me mad)

OH, and can you still get braces if you still have baby molars left?

Metal braces, and colored braces!!!! PLEASE ANSWER QUICK!!!!!!!!?
THey are metal. The "colour" is the rubber bands that orthodontists put over the bamds.

TEll her that the worst part is the taste of the glue. :) Seriously! The pain is like nothing compared to the taste! Sprite will immediately KILL the taste.

I don't think you can get braces w/ baby teeth in.

Also, there is no such thing as coloured braces.
Reply:They are metal, but the dentist like opens them up and puts colours in. So it's metal edges but you can see the colours, and no usually if you have baby molars they take them out before the braces go in.
Reply:There are lots of options these days, but you may pay more for less noticeable braces. I think what you are talking about is where they glue the metal brackets to your teeth but then they can put little colored elastic rings on each bracket to hold the wire in place. I'm not an orthodontist and I don't know the technical terms for all of the parts, but I had braces 14 years ago. I used to pick different colored pieces, and I would sometimes have 2 colors alternating. Tell your sister goos luck, and it will all be worth it when she's done.
Reply:Okay, here you go, the braces are not actually colored. The color is rubber bands. You are allowed to change you rubber bands whenever you want to. You can get any combination of colors. I know a lot of people who color them seasonally. Metal braces are the same. You see, you put the rubber bands, and rap them around the metal braces. There is no colored braces thing. Yes you can still get braces if you have baby molars left.
Reply:The actual braces (wires, brackets etc) are NOT coloured. The only coloured part of the braces are the little coloured rings that go around the brackets. So you're sister is probably going to get normal braces and then she'll be able to chose colours to hold the brackets on the braces closed.

There is however a type of braces that don't require colours called 'speed braces' so maybe you're sister is getting these? If she does she can just ask for colours if she wants them. I have speed braces and I just ask to have colours put on (to make them look nice) even though they aren't necessary =]
Reply:They don't actually put the braces on the baby teeth. You don't have baby molars, your molars are permanent. The ortho is probably putting the braces on the girl so help control how straight her permanent teeth come in. It's easier to move them when they come in.

Tell her it's easier to get the color bands put around her braces to hold the wire on instead of that metal "thread" stuff they use. Also, don't get the color black or clear rubber bands..they get dirty easy and black makes ur teeth look weird.
Reply:Theyre all silver, metal, the color comes from the bands you can get around them.
