Hi
Heres a question
Well, Heres the Story
My dentist refered my to the orthodontist
The first time I went, the orthodontist the took impressions and pictures and said that i would need a functional brace then traintracks.
The next time I went it said on the card it said ' imp. tba '
and she took more impressions. %26amp; said that the functional brace would be for 7-9 months.
I booked another appointment, as instructed, for two weeks later, which is this coming thursday. When at reception, the receptionist said, oh its good being in the holidays, so you have a couple of days to get used to them before going back to school.
Now on the card it says 'fit tba' Duration 10mins
What will she do to me now. Does that mean i will get it on thursday? ( I presume she will be fitting but my real question is - DO I GET TO TAKE THEM AWAY WITH ME?)
BEST ANSWER 10 POINTS !
thanks, Sapphire
Braces / Orthodontics Question.?
Hi Sapphire
from what you have written it does sound like your functional appilances will be fitted at your next appt as fit tba refers to fitting a tba appliance
Reply:You could always call up your orthodontist if you have questions. They're usually pretty good about answering questions you have.
The receptionist is right, though. It's like getting a dramatic hair cut; you need a little time to settle into it before you really get used to it, and not being in school helps a bit 'cause you get a chance to settle into your new look before showing other people.
Reply:My daughter had her impressions taken but then needed to have a couple of teeth out before the braces were fitted.
If you don't need teeth taking out (which your dentist does not the orthodontist by the way) it might be done but it took longer than 10 minutes to fit it for the first time.
Could be that you wont be fitted but it'll be worth the wait in the end.
Reply:Well usually braces take a little more than 10 minutest to get put on. Mine took about 45 but call your orthodontist because they are usually very friendly about that. It probably means they will fit you for BRACKETS. I just realized that. Brackets go around usually a molar for some braces or other orthodontic appliances. I had brackets for an expander but not on my braces because they are different braces. I would call but it is probably brackets. Good Luck!!!!
