I had a gap on my front teeth and now I have an ugly triangle gap on the top of my front teeth.
I started with my braces two months ago because I have gap in the middle of my front teeth but what it was an open gap, now it is an open triangle gap on the top of my front teeth. It seems that it is only closing on the bottom bit of my teeth as I have the feeling that the lower bit of my teeth is crashing leaving the triangle gap on the top. I had two alignments already and I am also wearing bands to get the teeth together. The first week after I had the alignments seemed that the gap was almost closed but then it started to give an ugly triangle open shape on the top part of my front teeth.
I have asked the dentist about this a couple of times and he said that I should not worry about it but I can’t help myself. I even went to see the dentist in person but the dentist keeps saying that I shouldn’t worry.
Please read my second post about this .. Thanks
Orthodontics help! Problem with braces and archwire?
You dont need to worry because the dentist will do all that they can in fixing your teeth. Your teeth can only move a certain amount within a month or within getting new wires. If its only been a few months of you having your braces.. Hopefully within a few more months they should start to move back together. I just got my braces in and some of my teeth are moving the way I dont want them to but my dentist said that it just takes time to get them to move the correct way. The dentist or you can really do anything about it. Sometimes you will have wierd gaps in your teeth for a months too and thats completly normal.
Reply:Nah - its quite normal.
Remember, your orthodontist studied hard, is subject to peer review and needs to maintain certain standards to be an orthodontist.
Trust him (or her!), he knows what he is doing.
The triangle-gap is a very common aspect with the front teeth, especially if a Mack truck could go through there without touching sides.
Don't worry about it, it will close at a later stage in your treatment.
Sometimes, orthodontics is like cleaning out the garage - you 1st have to get all the junk on the lawn before you can pack it away neatly.
So don't worry about it, it will be fine!
