Do military spouses get orthodontics?

My husband just swore in again today and now that we get dental,i was wondering, can i get braces that they will pay for or is it consider cosmetic and i will have to still come outta my pocket with the money even though we're military

Do military spouses get orthodontics?
Not sure for spouses, but active military cannot get braces unless the military caused injury to the mouth and they are needed to help correct the problem
Reply:as far as I know they do

good luck

Reply:You have to pay for dental care through United Concordia. it costs roughly $30 a month BUT they do not cover braces for spouses over the age of 23. So if you are young, then United Concordia will cover 50% of the cost of braces.

Orthodontic treatment is also available for spouses under the age of 23

From the United Concorida website and handbook.

I know this is a fact. I am 31 and a Spouse of An Active Duty Airman. My husband joined 4 yeas ago when I was 27. I tried at the age of 27 to receive braces and I have been routinely turned down by United Concordia due to my age. I'm too old!! You must be 23 or under. All benefits cease the month you turn 23!
Reply:I have a spouse and 3 kids and they are all covered under United Concordia. There is a cost share involved in anything other than diagnostic, preventive and emergency services. The website below is the benefit booklet, which outlines the cost-share and other information.

Doing a quick look, orthodontic services are a 50% cost-share.
Reply:if you have United Concordia they will only pay 50 % up until age 23. If you are over 23 your on your own.
Reply:no. Braces are only covered for minors under aged 18 and the cap is very low..only like $1800.

a VERY small number of adult dependents can get braces on a Space A basis when on OCONUS orders. usually only if the dental clinic his not busy taking care of kids and AD members. I was on the waiting list for all three years we lived in japan. My name came up 6 weeks before we left....so needless to say,I couldn't get them as the ENTIRE length you will have them on must not exceed his orders. so if you need them for 12 months, you must have at minimum 12 months remaining before he rotates out or you cannot get them.
