Question about orthodontics in Australia?

Can anybody please tell me about how much does a regular braces adjustment cost in Sydney (for an "international" patient - I come from Europe)? And also the removing of braces and getting (Essix) retainers?

I really need to know and would be very thankful if someone could give me any idea!

Question about orthodontics in Australia?
To be quite honest, although I've not had to visit a dentist in Australia, I have had to go to the Dr. as well as take my Grandmother when she was ill %26amp; it seems they work on the same system as Canada %26amp; likely Europe as well. The cost from what I remember seemed to have been based on basically how much I/we were able to pay for the visit %26amp; from what I know %26amp; a friend of mine in Oz who was getting dental work started, dentists seem to be along the same lines as Dr.'s cost wise. I don't recall paying anything for the Dr. visits, but did pay something for the Rx my grandmother had to have filled for an anti-biotic %26amp; my friend ended up paying for that but as I recall it wasn't much. Not compared to here in the US especially!

If you'd like I can try to contact my friend %26amp; ask him more specifics. He's been working out of the country on some places based in the ocean where he's not exactly easy to reach on a regular basis lately! He comes back to Oz on a schedule that's pretty much his so I don't know when for sure I'll be able to contact him, but I do know other people I can try to ask %26amp; hope for a quick reply if that's at all helpful.

In the interim perhaps someone from Oz will see %26amp; answer your question.

Actually, I do know how I can find more information for you but it's the middle of the night where I'm sitting at the moment %26amp; I'm exhausted %26amp; on my way to bed if the wait of 12 or so hours won't bother you much.

You can let me know if you like. Contact me through the messaging system on here if you haven't learned of something in the next 12-16 hours from now which is exactly 02:30 Monday the 14 April 2008 in Denver, CO which is MDT or -7 GMT.
Reply:Orthodontists are not covered by Medicare and can be quite expensive ,I would suggest checking the yellow pages website on line for an orthodontist near where you will be staying and emailing them a request for a quote that way you wont have any surprises also make an appoint met before you come as it can be weeks sometimes before they can see you especially if you are not regular patient
