Retainers Orthodontics?

I have retainers. I didnt wear them or didnt wear them enough. My tooth on bottom shifted forward. Now when I put my bottom retainers in, takes longer to put them in properly. I am probably just going to wait till monday and call ortho. I put retainers in, they hurt when I put them in, and take them out. Should I try to wear them for the next three days, or deal with pain and wear them? The pain hurts enough to take tolenol.

Retainers Orthodontics?
If you've already gone a long time without wearing them, just wait. If you've recently stopped wearing them, try wearing them again. I stopped wearing my retainer for a few days before and when I put it back in, it hurt very badly. But eventually I got used to it and it stopped hurting. As long as you can still put them on, your teeth haven't shifted too much, so it's probably better to wear them, even if it's painful for a bit.
Reply:Wait to see what the orthodontist says and follow that advice. You may need a new one. If you wear one that doesn't fit, it may damage the roots of the teeth if you wear it for a little bit, take it out, wear it again, take it out...you get the picture. Go to the orthodontist though before it gets worse to protect you investment and smile!
