Orthodontics question?

I've had braces twice. I'm in my 30s and don't want braces again. Some teeth have shifted and I want a new top retainer. Well I went to an orthodontist the other day and he said my bottom teeth actually stick out (slightly) further than my top teeth. It's unnoticable, I didn't even notice it until he pointed it out. I understand that bottom teeth are suppposed to be behind your top teeth and not meet. Mine have always met. But he's recommending braces and jaw surgery. I'm not willing to go through all that, I just want a top retainer. That would be perfect enough for me. Do you think another orthodontist would be willing to just give me a retainer?

Orthodontics question?
You just have to be firm and telll them what you want. They will lecture you but its your teeth and you can do what you want with them. Just keep asking they will eventually give you one.
