Career Question?

Hello I am 17 and a senior. I had braces for 3 yrs and I like to become an orthodontist assistant. As a patient I like the environment and feel that part of that comfort was from the orthodontist assistances. I have done research over the internet and didn't get the answers to my questions. Only the job descriptions they hold. But I have searched pass questions and is the pay really 15$. I would like to help improve people smiles. I just want to hear from someone who is in the orthodontics field. Also what kind of training is required. I would appreciate for any help I get.

Thank You.

Career Question?
JOIN a great group now- HOSA its Health Occupations Students of America. They are both high school and college students. A dental career is wonderful. Meet other medical minded professionals from all over the USA and have a support group.

Study both orthodontist assistant and "cleaning" Hygienist become certified in both. That will broaden your range of patient care. The pay varies based on experience in the field. Contact your doctor and talk to his staff.

Go in person and talk to other dentist and staff...do the legwork and find out "WHO" trained them and where do they get their continuing education classes at?

Most Junior Colleges offer techincal training. Go to a college, not a "techinical" school that way you have college credit hours that can be used for more advanced degrees.. Say you want to be a nurse in four years....well that education is already in your degree plan and your well on your way.

Best wishes.

Each state mandates the hours of experience and certification needed to work in a medical office of any kind.

You can contact your state "board of health" and they will help you out.

I would cut that in half and just go to a local college couselour and find out.
