Should I extract or place a crown for last tooth in upper left corner? $0 vs. $500?

The tooth in question is the last tooth on the upper left side at the back. All my wisdom tooth have been extracted. The only problem I can see is that my lower back tooth won't have a chomping partner. The dentist said I shouldn't have any problem with teeth movement since I've had orthodontics as a child. Financially, I don't know if I want to spend $500 on a tooth that's the last in line and is all the way in the back so when I smile it won't be that obvious. Painwise/Recovery wise, which is faster to recover? I dont want to take too many days off from work. I'm 28 years old by the way.

I use all my molars to chew so I would keep the tooth and settle for the crown. But I suppose it depends on your eating style.
Reply:I would do the crown. I still feel uncomfortable where my wisdom teeth were removed and I cant imagine having a normal tooth missing in my mouth. My tougue will forever go into the "hole" and food too. I would pay the 500 bucks.
Reply:PULLING IT ISN'T ANY MORE PAINFUL THAN A BAD HEADACHE I WOULD HAVE IT PULLED........
Reply:I actually had the same problem and went with the removal. I was back at work the next day. It took a few days to heal so I used the other side to chew, now I can't even tell it's gone.

They do say if you can save a tooth save it. GL in your decision.
Reply:I have had mine pulled and have no problems. After a few months you don't even have a whole there. I never notice mine being gone. As for having it pulled I never even took the pain meds they gave me when I had it done. It really didn't bother me I was back at work the next day. The thing that bothers me is having to keep your mouth packed all day after having it done.
Reply:Its better to have the tooth fixed. Many dentists have office hours on evenings and weekends nowadays, so you won't miss work. Check with 1-800-Dentist to find a dentist close to you that has the hours you like with one phone call.
