What can I do about this?

I went to the orthodontics today and they took off my bottom braces. the dentist was taking the cement off with some mechanism and she cut that string on the bottom of my tongue(I dont know what it's called) by accident. It hurts reallyy bad. I can barely talk because it hurts so much. Is there anything I can do or put on it so it doesnt hurt so much?

What can I do about this?
I am surprised they did not give you any type of rinse like chlohexidine or something it will be ok be care not to put to much of anything on it the more you do the more problems but because it happens to be under you tounge it will take a little longer to heal try 1 cap of hydrogen perioxide to 1/2cup warm water every 4 hrs you can use motrin if not allergic you dont reall want to put any oragel or anything on ot it will burn if you do put it on with a q tip so you dont put bacteria in you mouth from your hands also try having popcyciles sherbert anything cold to eat you ca stay on this or eat this before you eat other food so it makes your mouth cold also drink throgh a straw becarful with alt and stuff like that
Reply:i think that string that you are talking about is your lingual frenum. it attaches from the bottom of your tongue to the floor of your mouth. you will just have to let it heal on its own. it will hurt for a day or and it may turn white, but you will be feeling better before you know it.
Reply:You can try putting on some orajel it numbs, but it doesnt for as long as it advertises. Try taking some advil if your not allergic to ibuprofen. Your just gonna have to wait for it heal.
Reply:If you have spray for sore throats you can use that or rinse with salt water. I cut there one time when i bit down on a sucker and yes it does hurt but the good news is that it will heal pretty quickly.
