Im looking for somebody with actual experience of jaw surgery ..can they recommend a place..??? cheap Country?

I have a underbite, where my lower jaw is more forward than my upper jaw.......so the surgery would involve orthodontics and a surgeon removing some bone from my lower jaw..so that the lower jaw would then fall behind the upper jaw.

Im looking for somebody with actual experience of jaw surgery ..can they recommend a place..??? cheap Country?
This is NOT simple surgery at all. First of all, are you sure that your underbite is due to a protruding mandible (lower jaw), rather than a hypoplastic (small) maxilla (upper jaw). Careful measurements need to be made and a multidisciplinary team of orthognathic/craniofacial/maxillary-faci... surgeons need to be in place. The surgery itself is quite involved (depending on the technique imployed) and I would strongly advise AGAINST doing it 'on the cheap'. Cheaper units do not have the expertise/experience or multidisciplinary teams necessary to guarantee a good job. Why take risks with your face?

If you went abroad, who would be responsible for the close follow-up that would be required post-surgery? It's not just nip-tuck, I'm afraid. My advice is - research THOROUGHLY. Don't take the cheap option - it may end up more expensive in the long run!

Good luck
Reply:Where are you located there are programs that you should look into try searching the internet i know some US Dr's do them when people can't afford them but the people have to go through somekind of program.
Reply:You can go to Romania. I heard there are good doctors in these problems...and cheaper than US.Look up via internet and try to get email adresses from a few clinics and ask them.get well...
Reply:To be honest it would be cheaper for you to have it done in this country. Although many Eastern European countries are a lot cheaper than Britain/America (which ever country you are from), the fact that you will continuously have to fly back for tightening of the braces you may end up paying more in the long run as a result of the cost of flying - unless of course you decide to live out there for the course of treatment. It is a long lengthy process, that requires many appointments!!
